Seussical The Musical

Grades: entering 6th-12th grade 

 

Auditions: Wednesday, May 20th, 4-6pm

 

Callbacks: Wednesday, May 27th 3:30-6:30pm (You may not be called the entire time.)

 

Rehearsals:  June 22-July 8 

Monday - Friday, 10am-4pm

NO REHEARSAL: July 3rd

SPECIAL REHEARSAL:  Sunday, July 5: 11am-5pm

First two weeks (June 22 - July 2) at Rhythms Performing Arts

Final week (July 5 - 9) at Novato Theater Company

Saturday, July 11th: 1:30pm

Sunday, July 12th: 11am

 *If we have a smaller cast, we may perform only 4 shows*

All shows are MANDATORY and students may not miss them for any reason except illness or family emergency. Students will be called between 1.5 - 2 hours before showtime for each performance.  

 

PARADE REQUIREMENT FOR ACTORS

Part of participating in the show is getting to perform in the parade as well! We will be learning and practicing our parade routine during rehearsals that week. Reminder, that there will be no rehearsal on Friday, July 3rd, but all Seussical Cast Members are required to meet at Rhythms on Saturday, July 4th. Friends and siblings are welcome to sign up for Parade Camp to join us!

 

ARRIVAL: 8:30am at Rhythms on Saturday, July 4th

PICK-UP: After the parade, meet us back at Rhythms for dismissal

 

This event is always such a fun and memorable part of the summer, and we are excited to have everyone involved!

 

If, for any reason, your child is unable to participate in the 4th of July parade, please let us know on the audition form. 

 

 

Strike:

After the final Sunday performance the cast will have a 60 minute strike to help pack and clean the theater.  Strike is a required component of participation in the show.

 

Cast Party:

We will have a cast party between our two final Sunday shows on July 12th at the theater. The kids will stay after the morning show.  We will serve lunch, have some fun party time, then get ready for their final show.

 

Parent Volunteer Requirement:

There are many things to do to put together a show, and therefore we ask for a parent volunteer from each family to fulfill two volunteer positions.  However if this is not convenient for you, you have the option to pay the opt out fee of $50.  Certain positions require expertise in a field (set, costumes, etc.) but most just require your time (backstage parent supervision, etc).  Most jobs will require about 3 hours of work.   If you LOVE volunteering or have a special skill that might be helpful, please email us.

We will have the volunteer list ready by early June; at that time you can choose your position or pay the opt-out fee.  

 

Production Fee:

The summer musical is 2 payments of $410.  Your Production Fee includes your script, show t-shirt, digital video of the performance, cast party, and some costume items (you will be asked to provide some costume items like shoes, leotards, tights, wigs, particular costume items - all things the student will keep.)

 

Your Rhythms account will be charged two payments of $410:

  • The first payment will be charged upon enrollment.
  • The second payment will be charged June 1st

When you enroll, you will enter your credit card information and be enrolled in auto-pay, so you will be automatically charged each month and won’t have to worry about when to pay.  If you prefer, you can pay the total production fee in full by cash or check by the first rehearsal date.  Please email the studio if you choose this option.

 

Payments later than 5 days past the due date will incur a $15 late fee.  We are not able to give refunds.

  

Costumes:

Actors will be required to provide most items for their costumes, including but not limited to leotards, tights and shoes.  This is because it is dance wear and not reusable.

 

Family Discount:

If two or more siblings are enrolled in a Rhythms musical (including our younger or older shows), we offer $65 off for each child.

 

New Friend Discount:

For every new friend that a returning actor registers for this musical, the returning actor will receive $100 off their performance fee.  (Friends must be new to Rhythms Performing Arts.)

These discounts are not automatically added to your Studio Director account.  Please email the studio if you would like a discount applied to your account.
