What Is Competition Team?
Competition Team will be an opportunity for those students who really love to dance and want to be pushed further and work hard. The group will be competing at three local dance competitions during the year. We will also be going to a Nationals over the summer; because we don’t have all of the details for this nationals just yet, it will be encouraged but not mandatory.
For this upcoming year, we will have two groups:
ELITE TEAM: The first group is reserved for advanced dancers as students need to be dancing at a level that is ready to compete against other teams. They will be working toward perfecting their technique and precision which is hard work. This team will be for those entering grades 9-12. Rehearsals will be on Thursday??? nights, September-May. There will also be one Saturday afternoon all-team workshop per month.
PREMIERE TEAM: The second group is for those dancers who are new to competition. These dancers will be learning what it means to be part of a competition team. They will work on their technique and learn some new skills. They will also learn about the dedication and determination it takes to compete. This group will be for dancers entering grades 6 and up. Rehearsals will be on Monday??? nights, September-May. There will also be one Saturday afternoon all-team workshop per month.
Cristina will be reviewing all the competition details at the end of the audition video. If you have questions, you can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.

We will not have rehearsals during weeks when we do not have regular Rhythms classes. We have budgeted for 30 rehearsals throughout the year so there will be some weeks without rehearsals.
Competitions do not yet have their calendars prepared for next year. Usually we have this info by late June and will get you the info as soon as we have it. We will also get you the dates for the monthly Saturday workshops as soon as possible.
Competition Team is a YEAR LONG COMMITMENT. The 10 month competition fee is non-refundable. If a student cannot finish out the year, you still owe this monthly fee. We highly, highly discourage anyone from quitting competition team. It is very difficult on the group as a whole and teaches your child that they don’t need to fulfill the commitments they make.
The competition team costs $100 per month and will be paid August-May (10 months). This breaks down to about:
65% competition fees
25% coaching fees
10% costume fees
Your Competition Fees include:

Coaches will focus on coaching and therefore won't be coming up with any fundraising opportunities. If you want to create your own fundraisers, you are welcome to do so.
We will be looking for parents to act as team parents. These parents would be in charge of organizing food for some of the events, rides to competitions, and some special treats throughout the year. If you are interested in being a Competition Team Parent, please email us to let us know.
